Is the “SaaS Apocalypse” Inevitable with the Advent of AI Coding?

We applied a fragility scoring model across three AI systems to evaluate how each assesses the risk of modern SaaS vendors being vulnerable to AI-driven replacement.

The rapid adoption of AI coding tools (most notably Claude Code) has fueled what some are calling the “SaaS Apocalypse,” reigniting debate around whether AI will fundamentally disrupt or displace large portions of the software market.

Innovate Cybersecurity Research explored this question through a focused lens on B2B SaaS, IT software, cybersecurity vendors, and hyperscalers.

Using a structured scoring model evaluating software complexity, dependency on APIs and infrastructure, uniqueness of underlying data, and the cost of AI-driven development versus licensing, we asked three popular AI models to assess perceived SaaS fragility.

The results reflect AI-generated analysis, not Innovate Cybersecurity’s opinions. We’re sharing this framework to encourage a more nuanced discussion and invite our community to contribute scores based on real-world operating experience.
